Turkish club Trabzonspor have opened negotiations with Mohamed Salah, aiming to bring the Egyptian forward to the Süper Lig as a free agent. The 34-year-old is available after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season, where he spent nine years and won numerous honours. Trabzonspor confirmed the talks in a brief statement. Salah's time at Anfield, which began in June 2017 following a move from Roma, produced 257 goals and 120 assists in 442 appearances for Liverpool, as well as multiple major honours. Individually, he claimed the Premier League Golden Boot four times and was named the PFA Players' Player of the Year on three occasions — in 2018, 2022, and 2025. Trabzonspor, known as the Black Sea Storm, are one of only six teams to have won the Turkish Super Lig. They have lifted the league title seven times, with six of those triumphs coming between 1976 and 1984. After a 38-year wait, they reclaimed the title in 2022. The club are based in the north-eastern city of Trabzon. In a statement, the club said: 'The player is planned to reach Trabzon in the evening of the same day. The time and other details regarding the welcome program in Trabzon will be shared with the public through our club's official communication channels during the day.' Salah's free-agent status means any club can sign him without a transfer fee, and Trabzonspor are in talks to do so.
