Celtic began the defence of their Scottish Premiership title with a win over a dogged Dundee on a tough opening night. Kieran Tierney crossed for Benjamin Nygren to head in the winner. Nygren was Celtic's top scorer last season, but Tierney was the provider. Since Martin O'Neill returned in January, the left-back has arguably been Celtic's best player, although his revival has gone somewhat under the radar. That may be because so much is expected of a player who once brought Celtic a reported £25m when he moved to Arsenal. Last season, Tierney registered 12 assists – more than any other Celtic player – and scored six goals from defence. Somali football supporters in Glasgow and across Scotland follow the domestic game closely; Celtic's winning start gives them extra reason to watch Tierney's form this season.
