Bitcoin Holds Monthly Gain as Choppy August Looms

Bitcoin slipped below $63,000 on Friday, but the world’s largest cryptocurrency remains on track to finish the month with a gain. That comes after markets absorbed rising expectations that the Fed could raise rates this year, climbing bond yields, a sharp unwind in the AI trade and a high-profile security incident involving Coldcard, one of bitcoin’s best-known hardware wallets. Bitcoin avoided the deeper pullback many had feared and consolidated above its bear-market lows even as risk appetite cooled elsewhere. Bitfinex analysts said market positioning partly explained that resilience, while the report’s headline indicated that forced selling had been exhausted. The end of forced selling may ease immediate downward pressure, but a choppy August would still demand caution from Somali traders.
