Next Altcoin Season May Have Fewer Winners: Wintermute

The next altcoin season may produce fewer winners as institutional investors focus on a narrower group of digital assets, according to crypto market maker Wintermute. In the first half of 2026, institutional investors participated in Wintermute’s spot over-the-counter flow as capital clustered in fewer tokens. The firm said this concentration is making altcoin rallies more selective. Somali traders interested in altcoins may face a market where gains do not spread broadly across many tokens. Distinguishing assets attracting concentrated capital from those receiving less interest could therefore become a practical part of assessing risk.
