Rockstar Games says Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Its release date had previously moved from fall 2025 to May 26, 2026. Pre-orders are open, with the Standard Edition priced at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99. The game will be distributed digitally at launch. Retail cases will contain a download code rather than a game disc. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said more than 90 percent of the company’s business is already digitally distributed. Preloading begins November 12, and both editions include the Vintage Vice City Pack, with vehicles, weapon patterns and hairstyles tied to Vice City. GTA VI returns to Vice City and follows Jason Duval and Lucia after a job goes wrong and draws them into a criminal conspiracy. The title is expected to draw exceptional attention, and the report says some other publishers are avoiding release dates near its launch. Rockstar will air an extended look at the game on August 27. Netflix subscribers will see it at 3 PM ET before it reaches YouTube at 9 PM ET. Zelnick described the volume of pre-orders as unprecedented and astonishing. Unauthorised clips attributed to a person or group calling itself CyberLeek have also appeared online. They appear to show Jason Duval shooting basketball hoops, flying an aircraft, using a taser and attacking someone with a wrench. One clip shows “LEEK” being shot into a wall, while another appears to show a six-star wanted system. Take-Two has issued subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord seeking information about alleged copyright infringers, with a September 4 deadline for the requested information. The dispute follows the 2022 leak of 90 early-build videos, after which the hacker received a life sentence in a secure hospital. The IWGB Game Workers Union has requested voluntary recognition from Rockstar. It says members have been organising since 2019 at studios in Edinburgh, Dundee, Lincoln, Leeds and London. The request followed Rockstar’s dismissal of more than 30 employees last year, which organisers accused of union busting. The union seeks pay transparency, flexible working arrangements and action on crunch. For players in Soomaaliya and across the diaspora, a current-generation console is only part of the cost: buying the retail box will still require an internet connection capable of downloading the full game.
