Bethesda has revealed 'The Slasher', a unique horror-themed update for the multiplayer survival game Fallout 76. Arriving on Tuesday, September 15, the update introduces an evolving event that will gradually increase in intensity throughout the autumn months. Alongside the spooky additions, the developer is also launching Season 26, titled Beware the Blood Moon, and introducing the concept of legacy seasons to the game. The weeks leading up to Halloween typically bring festive cosmetics, pumpkin suits, Sheepsquatch costumes, and the traditional hunt for Spooky Scorched to Fallout 76. However, Bethesda describes The Slasher as a "first-of-its-kind" experience for the title. Instead of dropping all new content at once, the development team has designed a multi-week narrative where new elements continuously stack on top of previously introduced mechanics. Players will begin the event by tracking down whispered rumors and searching for hidden clues across the map. These early stages will eventually direct participants to locate and excavate mysterious unmarked graves. As the weeks progress, the world will change further, with hostile fanatics swarming the map in increasing numbers. The event is set to culminate in a final confrontation when a character known as the "Pint-Sized imposter" makes a direct appearance. Bethesda notes that the tension will grow as each additional layer of the event becomes available. Players who participate in the expanding storyline will have the chance to earn specific rewards, including a unique set of Power Armor and a new weapon called the Super Slasher. The structure resembles the recent Infestations update but is designed to span the entire game map on a much larger scale. In addition to the Halloween-themed content, the September 15 update marks the arrival of legacy seasons. Operating concurrently with Season 26, these returning seasons give newer players a chance to earn missed items. The first legacy offering will be Armor Ace and the Power Patrol, which originally ran as the game's second season in September 2020. This returning season will run for the same length of time as Beware the Blood Moon. The in-game ticket system will function across both the active and legacy seasons, allowing players to choose where they spend their earned currency. For veteran players who already completed Armor Ace during its original 2020 run, Bethesda has added a few new rewards to the legacy track. However, the original wall-mountable game boards will remain exclusive to those who participated six years ago, acting as a status symbol for early adopters. Bethesda is also giving the community a voice in choosing future legacy content. Players who want to see specific past seasons return can cast their votes on the official Fallout 76 Reddit page or the Bethesda Game Studios Discord server. This voting system will help determine which set of older cosmetic items the developer brings back next. Since Fallout 76 requires a persistent online connection, Somali players and those across the wider region often face high server latency that makes fast-paced combat challenging. Additionally, large seasonal patches demand significant storage space and bandwidth, meaning gamers in Somalia using capped mobile data should verify the update's file size before downloading.
