Enshrouded is preparing to leave early access on Thursday, October 15, with a 1.0 update that directly addresses some of the community's biggest complaints. Developer Keen Games is stepping into a crowded period for the survival genre, which has recently seen strong newcomers like Windrose, massive updates to established titles like Rust, and major launches including Palworld and Soulmask, alongside Valheim's impending full release. To stand out, the studio is introducing a long list of requested features based on player feedback. A primary focus for the October update is the Fell Dragon Youngling, which has acted as the final challenge during the game's early access period. Community Manager Andrew 'Toast' Eldred admitted that for many players, the encounter felt more like an impassable obstacle than a fair fight. To address this, Keen Games is adjusting the encounter so it remains challenging without feeling like a chore. The physical space where the dragon fight takes place is receiving structural changes. The ringed arena will be made deeper, giving players a better chance of staying on the platform rather than falling off during chaotic moments. The studio has also worked to eliminate known bugs that caused the dragon to become stuck in the environment or have its health completely reset without warning. Combat mechanics during the boss encounter are being significantly altered. Players will find it easier to stun the Fell Dragon Youngling, and the creature will stay grounded for a longer duration once incapacitated. To balance this extended window of vulnerability, the developer has slightly increased the dragon's damage resistance while it is stunned. Melee fighters, who previously struggled to land consistent hits on the airborne boss, are getting a new combat phase. The dragon will now land on the platform naturally, opening up direct melee engagements. Additionally, the weak spot on the dragon's back will now be vulnerable to all weapon types. Eldred also noted that players can parry the dragon's projectiles back at it to build up stun, a mechanic the game explains but many players have ignored. Beyond the dragon encounter, Keen Games is changing how player deaths affect boss fights overall. Currently, dying during a major battle causes the boss's health to reset instantly. With the 1.0 update, bosses will instead recuperate their health gradually over time. This gives players a chance to run back to the arena and continue fighting before all their progress is erased, a feature the team is currently testing to find the right balance. Character customization is also expanding. While many players enjoyed the original "hobbit-like" proportions of the characters, a new realistic option will be available for those who prefer standard heroic proportions. The original character dimensions will remain available as a classic toggle option, allowing players to choose how they appear in the world. The update tackles recurring issues with settlement NPCs and fishing. Keen Games has applied fixes for all currently known reasons why NPCs and pets get stuck in base structures. Fishing is receiving a deep rework to reduce frustration, meaning bait will now attract specific fish types based on the biome the bait resources came from, and higher-tier bait guarantees a catch of the corresponding tier. Catch locations will no longer influence the chance of catching a fish, though some spots will yield more frequent bites or higher chances for treasure. Enshrouded's heavy reliance on co-op multiplayer and detailed voxel graphics means Somali gamers will need capable PC hardware and stable home broadband to experience these boss changes. The game's data demands and server ping make it difficult to play effectively on the mobile data connections common in the region.
