Bethesda Game Studios says The Elder Scrolls 6 is now its primary development focus and that most of the team is working on it. Developers are playing the current build every day, and the studio says progress is where it expected. It did not announce a release date. The update follows Xbox job cuts and reports that key members of the sequel's team had been laid off. Bethesda also said ZeniMax Online Studios will work more closely with it on The Elder Scrolls franchise. The game is being built with Creation Engine 3. Why it matters: fans have waited for a substantial update since the sequel was announced eight years ago. Bethesda has now confirmed the project's priority and engine, but the statement still gives players no timetable for when they will be able to play it.
