Crypto Clarity Bill Awaits First Senate Step

Published:

As of Friday, July 31, the U.S. Senate had not filed a motion to proceed on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Filing that motion is the first required step for advancing the bill through the Senate. Time is running short for the legislation to clear the Senate in 2026. The digital asset industry says a procedural vote this week could position the bill for passage after senators return from recess in September, although that outcome remains far from certain. Senators Ruben Gallego and Thom Tillis sent a proposed revised ethics provision to the White House on Thursday. An industry source familiar with the talks told CoinDesk that the senators had drafted the compromise a day earlier. By midafternoon Friday, the White House had not officially responded to the proposal. Somalis interested in digital assets have reason to follow the debate in Washington because its outcome could influence the broader direction of the market.
