European Athletics Championships begin in Birmingham on August 10
The 2026 European Athletics Championships take place at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium from August 10 to 16. Organisers confirmed on July 10 that medal events will be held every day, with the women's 100 metres final scheduled for Monday, August 10. This is the first time the United Kingdom has staged the European Athletics Championships. Most stadium competition is centred on Alexander Stadium, while the marathon and Festival of Race Walks bring elite road events into the city centre on Saturday, August 15 and Sunday, August 16. The programme features several of Europe's leading athletes. Somali residents of Birmingham and elsewhere in the UK can check session schedules, tickets and late changes on the official Birmingham 2026 site. With medals decided each day, spectators should confirm the date and venue of the event they want to see before travelling.
